Dawn Run

13km | 369m Ascent | Total Duration: 2-2.5hrs

Welcome the day in the most unforgettable way.

Join us on Sunday 17 May for the brand new KMF Dawn Run – a 13km trail adventure that begins in the still, quiet glow of first light.

At 05:30, you’ll set off from Crow Park and follow some of the Lake District’s most iconic trails as the sky begins to soften. The route climbs gently towards the legendary Castlerigg Stone Circle, reaching the stones to enjoy the dawning of the day.

Here, you’ll step into something truly special. A druid drumming creating an atmospheric sunrise ceremony among the ancient stones – a moment to pause, breathe, and welcome the new day. A water stop is available here too.

From there, it’s a relaxed run back to Keswick, finishing around 07:30–08:00, where a fresh coffee and pastry await. Your token can be redeemed after the run with our on-site caterer – the perfect reward for an early start and an unforgettable morning.

Coffee & Breakfast Snack Token: redeemable pre- or post-run with on-site catering.
Sunrise Ceremony at Castlerigg: a live drumming performance.

The Dawn Run sets off from Crow Park on the shores of Derwentwater, following gentle lakeside and woodland trails as the first light begins to spread across the fells. The route climbs gradually out of Keswick, winding through quiet lanes and rolling fields with wide-open views of Blencathra, Clough Head and the surrounding Lakeland skyline.

As the ascent continues, the trail leads you towards the iconic Castlerigg Stone Circle, arriving just as the sun is rising. This is the high point of the route – both literally and emotionally – offering panoramic views across the valley as the landscape glows with early-morning colour.

After a peaceful pause at Castlerigg, the return leg drops back down along smooth, flowing tracks and rural footpaths. You’ll weave through tranquil farmland and rejoin familiar Keswick trails before finishing back at Crow Park, completing a beautifully balanced loop with a mix of steady climbs, runnable descents and breathtaking sunrise scenery.
