WORDSWORTH GRASMERE

We are excited to be at Keswick Mountain festival this year!

Wordsworth Grasmere cares for Dove Cottage, the historic home of William and Dorothy Wordsworth where they lived between 1799 and 1808. Whilst living at the cottage, William wrote some of his greatest poetry and Dorothy her Grasmere journals. We also care for the Wordsworths’ original manuscripts as well as many other manuscripts, books and pictures from the Romantic period in our museum and Jerwood Centre.

We will have a craft activity for children, objects to handle, the William’s Childhood Adventures in Minecraft, facsimile manuscripts, and costumed poetry readers so you can experience what life was like at Dove Cottage 200 years ago. You will also be able to find out more about our work in local communities and across Cumbria!
